Therapy can offer real and lasting change, but it isn't a quick fix. It requires:
Honesty — being willing to look openly at what is happening in your life. Curiosity — being prepared to explore your thoughts, feelings, patterns and relationships. Engagement — taking an active part in the process, both in and between sessions. Willingness to change — being open to questioning familiar patterns and trying something different. Commitment — giving yourself the time and attention needed for meaningful change. Investment — therapy involves both time and financial investment, so it is important that you feel ready to prioritise this work for yourself. You don't need to have all the answers before you begin. But you do need to be ready to participate in the process.
My role is to support, challenge and guide you. Your role is to show up and do the work.
Here is some information about how I work. If you have any other questions please message me via the contact form.
Once you have reached out to me and we've had an initial conversation to ensure we are a good match to work together, sessions will take place either online (via Zoom) or face-to-face in my practice room in Newcastle. I also offer walking or nature sessions if preferred. Each session lasts for 55-minutes and is predominantly led by you as the client. As your therapist, I will hold a space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and discuss any challenges you might be facing. We'll look at what you want to gain from the therapeutic process and work together to help you get there.
The general rule of thumb for the frequency of therapy sessions is once per week, especially when you're just getting started. For Life coaching the frequency can be less according to urgency in achieving your objectives. Therapy requires a concentrated effort on a consistent basis to realise the full benefits from the counselling relationship - in other words, it takes regular and consistent work to see results. Some clients move to fortnightly sessions after a certain number of sessions, if feeling more resilient.
I work in an open-ended way, which means you can decide when you want to end your therapy journey. Some clients choose to just have six sessions, whereas others stay in therapy for years. The choice is yours.
Single 55-minute session on Zoom or mutually agreed offline location including walking or nature based sessions.
On occasion, I can offer lower rates for those in difficult financial situations. Please enquire over the contact form.
